Holy Branches | Hollow Knight MAP Part 20
52I finished this map part back during Christmas Break, so it's been sitting in my files for a while. I animated this right after doing the Bloom Meme, which was right after I had spent a lot of time learning more about animation. I really like how the sketch came out, especially the stagger going into the battle cry, but let me tell you, doing the line art sucked the soul out of me. If there's one thing I would've done differently when doing this part, it would be to skip the lineart altogether and go straight from sketch to color.
I think one of the reasons the lineart was so draining was because I inbetweened on ones in the sketch phase, and then had to replicate the perfect inbetweens straight ahead, which was stressful and didn't work very well, (if you look closely you can see that the lineart looks shaky in some sections). I also would redo the backgrounds if I could. I made the first one way too blurry and the other just... doesn't fit for some reason? I tried to put my figure on why the colors look so off to me but I've got nothing. Despite all that though, I think this part shows off a lot of the new stuff I learned about animation.
