6"I was really expecting a grade A experience from this game, given how much I enjoyed the previous one, its abrupt ending notwithstanding, but it seems my concerns that the developer's efforts at emphasizing scares over suspense would backfire were well founded. Never underestimate the value of dread in a horror game. Allowing one's audience to crawl into their own heads and scare themselves before anything tangible actually happens is the sign of a well designed horror experience.
Walking around a house waiting for underwhelming events to trigger at arbitrary intervals is not. I believe the term "fun house horror" comes to mind, and fits well here, as it captures rather well the feel of this game's experience; walk around, wait, get startled, rinse, lather, repeat."
