This is a brief description of the process I use to change some of our favorite creatures from Heroes of Might and Magic 2!

1) Open Photoshop or Gimp (this tutorial uses Gimp because it's free!)
2) Open a picture of the creature you want to edit (I recommend using https://www.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/heroesofmightandmagic2/ )
3) Use your "Select by Color" tool on any pixel you want to change.
4) Use the Color Picker to bring the color in your selected pixels to the foreground.
5) Get into the foreground color editor.
6) Put the settings on HSV or equivalent.
7) Use the H slider to move the selected color in a different direction.
8) Note whatever value the H slider is at. That will be the value you use to change EVERY other pixel at by.
9) The foreground color is now the new color you have selected. Click on your paintbrush or pencil tool.
10) Individually or all at once with a big brush, change the colors in the highlighted pixels.
11) Repeat steps 3 through 6 with a new set of pixels until you achieve the desired effect.

Tips:
-Try to imagine where you can make the most change with the least amount of work.
-Watch out for pixels that share the same color as the outline.
-You can always go back after with a brush or pencil tool on the smallest setting to manually correct a bad outline or something that doesn't look quite right.
