Honda Civic India launch in early 2019
32Honda had unveiled the Civic at the 2018 Auto Expo held in India in February. Honda had stated that they will be bringing the sedan to the Indian shores but had not confirmed as to when. We recently drove the Honda CR-V which is slated to launch next month, October 9, 2018.
The Honda Civic will be the next launch from the Japanese carmaker's stable and is slated to go on sale around February 2019. The Indian market will get the recently unveiled Honda Civic. The sedan gets an all-new design if compared with respect to the last Civic model we saw in India. The monodynamic stance stays, however, the headlamps now are all-LED and also get DRLs.
The front bumper is more aggressive with black inserts and foglamp housings with chrome linings. On the side, one can see the new Civic now gets a fastback styled roofline with aggressive tail lamps. The alloy wheels are new as well. On the interior, the Civic will get a new 7.0-inch touchscreen system and will be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Civic for the Indian market will be powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine churning out 140bhp of peak power - mated to either a 6-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The Civic will also get a diesel powertrain, a 1.6-litre unit belting out 120bho of peak power. However, gearbox options are only singular - a 6-speed manual. There is no option for an AMT gearbox.
Once launched, the Civic will go against the Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia, and the Toyota Corolla.
