Horizon Forbidden West - Braced Shot with Different Bows - And taking down Apex Thunderjaw
The first part of this video quickly shows the difference of Braced Shot damage between different Sharpshot bows.
All 3 Braced Shots strike a disc launcher on the Apex Thunderjaw.
As of Patch 1.07:
A basic Sharpshot arrow (50 impact/25 tear) does 299 Braced Shot damage.
A maximized Glowblast arrow (156 impact/117 tear) does 836 Braced Shot damage.
A maximized Forgefall advanced arrow (270 impact/243 tear) does 1119 Braced Shot damage.
So the quality of the bow (that is, the base damage of the arrow) affects the Braced Shot damage that you do, but you get diminishing returns with the Forgefall. Naturally, powering up the bow even more with good coils and using an appropriate valor surge or using a mounted ranged damage skill will further affect the damage amount. Since Glowblast precision arrows are cheaper to make than Forgefall advanced precision arrows, they are probably the best option here for resource cost.
The rest of the video is just me working to take down an Apex Thunderjaw, and a few Fanghorns. I'm wearing maximized Nora Thunder Warrior armor, so I can take a lot of physical punishment (resistance 55 on just about everything, as long as it isn't cold or plasma damage).
Update: I liked the game, and did quite a bit after the story was finished. But I'm done - I don't find myself desiring to go back and play again. I think I played through Zero Dawn twice - a game has to have a kind of purity to it for me to want to play again. Forbidden West is polished, and I liked the story, but it's also very involved with a lot to do, which I think unfocused the experience.
Update: In New Game+, released on 6/2/22, there is a new Iriv's Downfall sharpshot bow with Advanced Precision Arrows doing 187 impact/187 tear as a base. I'm not sure if I want that one, because the arrows are a lot more expensive to make than the precision arrows of the Glowblast.
