Horizon Zero Dawn, in my eyes, kind of came out of nowhere. At E3 2015 the world, including myself, saw the setting of a distant future, where machines and nature are seemingly working in harmony and for me, I checked out. I don’t know what it is, but seeing the whole dystopian future idea where technology runs rampant and nature has taken over has never gripped me the same way it had for others. Fortunately, I then saw a protagonist with a bow, which had me raising an eyebrow, and then I saw stealth gameplay, which had me reaching for my wallet, and then, I saw climbing, and I was sold. So even though I was skeptical, Horizon Zero Dawn was one of those games that I took a chance on, because this was a new IP, and nobody really knew how a game like this would turn out, and as we know by now, It turned into a staple of the generation.

I bring this up because I know a lot of people including myself also initially thought Horizon Zero Dawn would be a mediocre open world game and while it can certainly fall into that label in some aspects, I think it has a world that was memorable, gameplay that was fun for the runtime, and a story that in my eyes was really good, but lacked the proper setpieces to be memorable. Horizon Zero Dawn is, by design, a game I should not have enjoyed, and yet I’d easily recommend it to anyone including you. So if you haven’t played this game and the gameplay has intrigued you thus far, then please stop watching because this video will spoil absolutely everything about this game and it’s dlc expansion, Frozen Wilds.

So with that being said, allow me to introduce you to the world of Horizon Zero Dawn, or formerly known, as Colorado. About 1000 years after a technological catastrophe that left the human race seemingly extinct, we play as Aloy, who is from birth an outcast from the Nora tribe, and is forced to hunt machines and survive off the land with only the help of her father, Rost. Despite the machines here having characteristics similar to the actual animals they were based on and technology millenia ahead of our current technological limits, the humans have reverted to a very primitive social structure with different tribes all fighting for power and control.

This aforementioned world, a solid if not entirely profound story, and a solid gameplay foundation all contributed to this game's high critical reception. Despite this, some called the game disappointing and found the story uninteresting. Now that it's been a few years I think it’s appropriate to take a look at the game again, with it’s included DLC, but I have to clarify that my thoughts will primarily encompass the PC port of this game. Outside of performance and bug related issues this game is the exact same as it’s console counterpart. The PC port was released just earlier this year and it’s at a reasonable price and there's even a sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, coming out quite soon so I thought it was the perfect excuse to jump back in and take a look at Horizon Zero Dawn, 4 years later.

Horizon Zero Dawn is now 4 years old so I figured it would be a good time to take a look back at Horizon Zero Dawn 4 Years Later. This Horizon Zero Dawn Critique and Horizon Zero Dawn Analysis will encompass my full thoughts on the game and my wishes for Horizon Forbidden West. A Horizon Forbidden West review will be coming when that game comes out. I recommend you watch the Horizon Zero Dawn All Cutscenes in preparation for the Horizon Zero Dawn Sequel. Based off of the Horizon Forbidden West Gameplay, I am more than excited to get into it. I will also include a Horizon Zero Dawn Frozen Wilds Review and Horizon Zero Dawn Frozen Wilds Critique in this video. Is Horizon Zero Dawn Worth It? I'll try to answer this question. This is primarily a Horizon Zero Dawn PC Review. I hope Horizon Forbidden West PC comes to steam along with it's Playstation release. This will include a Horizon Zero Dawn Story Summary.
