There are two other ways to gain unintended height, and they involve either the Blast Sling or the Tearblast arrows.

1. Tearblast high jump.

Leave a Tearblast arrow to the opposite direction of where you want to be thrown towards. Jump in air at the very last moment before the explosion to get a momentum boost and fly through air at a decent arc.

+ Pros: does no damage to Aloy. Using double Tearblast will fling Aloy a fairly big horizontal distance, making it an alternative long jump in places with no room to sprint.

- Cons: a single Tearblast jump has a little bit of randomness to it because Aloy has multiple Tearblast damage reactions. Also, the jump can be hard to use in a precise way.

2. Explosion high jump.

Aim towards the opposite direction of where you want to be thrown towards. Shoot and jump pretty much simultaneously, and you should be blown in air at a decent arc.

+ Pros: resources are easier to come by compared to Tearblast arrows.

- Cons: Aloy takes a lot of damage from this. Also, you can't see as well where you're going while doing the trick.

Other notes:

- I kind of think of these two high jumps as "lesser" jumps because they don't give as much height as a sling double jump if you don't get optimal timing. Also, Aloy is in a damage animation while in air, meaning her air flight can't be controlled and you can't grab any ledges either, making these two high jumps less versatile.

- if you notch several Tearblast arrows before shooting, you can get some different damage reactions for Aloy. They seem to only give her extra horizontal movement instead of vertical, so it's most useful for long jumping.

---

0:00 - your basic Tearblast high jump.

0:12 - your basic explosion high jump.

0:27 - an OoB I found at the Avad's throne. You can jump off one of the guards' heads and Tearblast fling yourself over the wall. This lets you go to the "sewer" underneath early, but this isn't particularly useful in most cases.

0:42 - another practical example: here's a jump that lets you get past the locked gate to Avad's throne. For height comparison I first do the jump with a sling high jump...

0:55 - and then attempt to do the same thing with a Tearblast jump. But the less controllable arc makes it extremely difficult, and I haven't managed to do it once. Well, at the very least, it's good that we now have a bunch of different jumps for different purposes.

1:07 - as a bonus clip, here's another use for the Tearblast damage reaction. If a dialogue triggers right after being blown away by a Tearblast shot (or to a lesser degree a Sling explosion), Aloy will still be flying away during the dialogue scene. This causes the dialogue to start with Aloy misplaced. Her collision also acts in a very simplified manner during this time and she may sink into walls or other objects with horrifying results.
