The project is rooted in Norwegian black metal but embraces DSBM and death metal elements.
Horrenda started as an Irish experimental black metal solo project but became a full band.
Darragh played bass, guitars, keys and did the vocals for the early demos known as the "Horrenda - Solum Demos."
After "Neronian Times" was released, Horrenda started gigging and later found a lead singer in Arron " Nomad" O' Shaughnessy.
And after a few line up changes, Horrenda rounded out with "Crux" on drums and Keith "Donn" Smith playing bass.
The first full band demo "Vile Lament" is on its way; with a studio EP set for 2017.

Horrenda started as an experimental black metal solo project of Darragh “Outis” O’Connor in 2015. Taking elements from raw black metal and DSBM; the goal was from the start to push the genre into something of atmosphere and intent.
After a few releases, Horrenda became a full band following the release of “Neronian Times" in 2016. This saw a shift to a Norwegian influenced sound. Horrenda started gigging and later found a lead singer in Arron " Nomad" O' Shaughnessy.
Then after a few line up changes, Horrenda rounded out with "Crux" on drums, Keith "Donn" Smith playing bass. The first full band demo "Vile Lament" was released in 2017 with this line up. It was during this time, the band picked up the moniker “the Irish Mayhem.”
The band found success opening for bands like Christ Agony, Rotten Sound and playing to audiences around the country including the Siege of Limerick and the after show for Mayhem in 2018.
Horrenda added Mark “Morrdok” O’Brien on guitar prior to production on their first full length album in 2019. This will be released in late 2019! With the first single “Nerve Gas” being set for release in June 2019.
