Hoshi no Mahoroba (JP) - Hisoku/Mizushi Full Playthrough
This game has five playable characters, but only one can be selected as main character when playing a new game.
- Ayukawa Sorami (Sky) - 10 years old, primary school student
- Isa Chifuu (Wind) - 13 years old, middle school student
- Utsuki Hisoku (Fire) - 17 years old, high school student
- Eto Mizushi (Water) - 22 years old, college student
- Otsuki Hiroshi (Earth) - 27 years old, working adult
However, the completion progress in the "Album" is based on pairs, which means each character has four possible pairs, for a total of 20 pairs. And that means you need to play at least 20 times in order to complete the "Album". The story between characters will be different for sure, and for each partner I'm sure there will be minor differences in some parts as well.
The decision near the beginning of the game will determine which character will be your partner. But I have no idea which ones for which characters. I just followed the instinct and accepted whatever pair I got.
One of the objectives in the game is to collect 10 key items to be brought to the shrine. In the video I managed to collect only six. However, registered items are carried between playthroughs, so I'm sure playing with the other characters will eventually complete the items.
Based on my test, battles are not mandatory to be won. In other words, the story will still continue pretty much the same as if you win. However, in the video I tried my best to win as much battles as possible. There are 13 battles on this playthrough but three battles are not won:
- The sixth battle has retreat script when the main character's HP is less than two points. All characters and enemies have four points of HP in battle. The main character will consume a portion of HP to attack, which means the main character's HP will be decreased after each attack. However, the enemy's attack in this battle will deplete two points (so basically 50% of your HP) for each hit. With the current power, actually it's very possible to defeat the enemy, but since there is no way to continuously prevent the enemy from attacking, eventually it will hit the main character and trigger the running away scenario.
- The seventh battle is practically impossible to be won, due to having no way to stop enemy's attacks, and no way to heal as well. Likewise the previous battle, the enemy's attack will deplete two points of HP so two hits are all you need to lose the battle. Note that in the video I managed to deplete enemy's HP to the last quarter point before eventually losing.
- The 12th battle is scripted to be run away since the main character is incapable of performing any attacks.
The game is fully voiced for all major characters, but I turned off the voice before the game started, due to my preference to skip all dialogues whenever possible. If the voices are enabled, the way the game loads the voices is not instant so there will be like half a second delay between texts. So that's perhaps extra 20 minutes on the same playthrough.
