You can view your local DNS mapping setting by executing the following command:
less /etc/hosts
You can then edit this file by using the following syntax:
vi /etc/hosts
If you have trouble resolving a certain hostname, but can ping the IP address you can use local DNS mapping as a quick fix. . .
