Hotshot Racing (originally announced under the nameRacing Apex), is avideo gameofcourse, developed by Lucky Mountain Games in partnership withSumo Digitaland published by Curve Digital, released in August2020onPC,Xbox One,PS4andNintendo Switch. The game is inspired by arcade-style racinggamesfrom the 1990s.
The game reproduces the style of the first polygonal 3D racing games from the years 1988 to 1992 1 . The graphics are rendered " low poly 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 ", and the animation is rendered at 60 frames per second 6 , 7 , 8 . The gameplay is arcade-style, unrealistic 8 : a simple press on the “brake” button causes the car to skid with a screeching of tires 4 ; a boost bar gradually fills up 4. The player has the opportunity to earn money while shopping or succeed various challenges, allowing to buy or unlock customizations for cars and drivers 4 . The game offers 16 circuits spread over four “grand-prix 4 . The player can choose from multiple characters, each of which has four vehicles offering the genre-typical tradeoff between acceleration, top speed and drift 4 . There are several game modes: " Grand Prix ", Time Trial , " Cops N Robbers " (cops and thieves), " Drive Or Explode " (rolls or explodes) 4. Multiplayer up to four players can be played in split screen and online
