If like me you recently ditched Windows and went to a version of Linux and are looking something akin to MSI afterburner, Riva Statistics - a great feature for Windows users wanting to monitor their game's and machine performance. Unfortunately there is not a Linux version. However DXVK_HUD is a nice little alternative utility, not as robust though.

This simple video will show you how 2 use Steam's Proton compatibility layer to overlay various GPU information.

To overlay the HUD (as in the BFBC2 video) the following code can be placed to the launch option of a particular game you wish to monitor.

DXVK_HUD=full %command%

This will show every option available. To show a particular option, simply remove full and place in want you to show (list of options below.)

Example. DXVK_HUD=fps %command% will show the Frames Per Second only. If you want a mixture of options simply add a comma and the name of the option (list below) that you want to display.

Example. DXVK_HUD=fps,gpuload %command% will show FPS and the GPU load.

Options available.

devinfo: Displays the name of the GPU and the driver version.
fps: Shows the current frame rate.
frametimes: Shows a frame time graph.
submissions: Shows the number of command buffers submitted per frame.
drawcalls: Shows the number of draw calls and render passes per frame.
pipelines: Shows the total number of graphics and compute pipelines.
memory: Shows the amount of device memory allocated and used.
gpuload: Shows estimated GPU load. May be inaccurate.
version: Shows DXVK version.
api: Shows the D3D feature level used by the application.
compiler: Shows shader compiler activity.
samplers: Shows the current number of sampler pairs used [D3D9 Only].
full: enables all the available HUD elements

Thanks for watching and subscribing - Matt, AKA WOMBAT33R.
