It is really good that H.R. 3261(SOPA:Stop Online Piracy Act) is getting a lot of attention, but I think the majority of the people who are protesting the bill by singing online petitions are not aware how Bills turn into Law.

Even in the Wikipedia article...
"The bill, if made law, would expand the ability of U.S. law enforcement and copyright holders to fight online trafficking in copyrighted intellectual property and counterfeit goods.[2]"

The Bill is in the first stage, it still has to go through the US Senate, and the US President to become a law. I think a lot of people think that if the US House of Representatives pass the bill, the world will end...Not knowing, again, that it needs to go through the US Senate then, and then the US President.

Hundreds of Bills pass the House of Representatives ever year, and then either fail at the Senate level, or the President never signs them, and then it never gets the 2/3 majority vote to override the Presidential veto.

The wikipedia article about the so called SOPA Bill is
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_Online_Piracy_Act

The US President, Barrack Obama, has said that he will not sign the SOPA Bill into Law, so if the House of Representatives passes SOPA, and then the US Senate passes SOPA, then they will need to have a 2/3 vote majority vote to pass into Law.

SOPA, the way it is right now, if passed and turned into Law, is a violation of the US constitutional 1st amendment right, the right of free speech. Basically, I assume at some point, it will be reach the US Supreme Court and be challenged, and possibly overruled if it were to ever pass. Thank you Precedent for pointing out the flaw in this text.

Parts of SOPA, might be passed at a later date, but the way SOPA is right now, WILL NOT PASS.
