How Building a Community gets you more YouTube views
So as I continue the text version of this guide at https://www.paradoxgaming.net/contentcreation I wanted to talk about Content Creators who are struggling to get a foundation and how they need to think about doing something away from their content and that is developing a community.
I know that people feel like they need to just keep banging away at the content, but if you have a handful of viewers, it might benefit you more to set up a Discord and get them involved in the process. I can tell you that if I had not done this, I would not have made the content I made in December 2018 - April 2019, which just so happens to be relevant again and getting a ton of views.
I’ve grown by 2500 subscribers since June (and we all agree that is a bad metric to chase but people want to see that), but in the last 28 days I’ve gotten 176,000 views and 1,300,000 minutes of watch time, which is 21% and 23% of my channel totals.
So in one month I’ve done 21/23% of my 3 year and 9 month channel life. That success belongs to my community, to drove me to make that content. Had it not been for them I would have been doing one-off video reviews and I’d still be struggling to figure things out.
