How Carlo Ancelotti modernised Milan
This was no longer the 1990s, and Milan were no longer the force that they had been, either back home or in Europe.
Juventus had seen Milan’s four finals at the start of the decade and matched it, pairing off a dominance at home with a continental appetite. Then just as the capital clubs began to flex their muscles, the genius of Silvio Berlusconi struck again. He dove into the wildcard options and retrieved a well-worn, much adored Milan figure from the past.
Carlo Ancelotti was a King in Milan, and now he was back. So too, were Milan.
