To say that the Blades of Chaos are representative of everything wrong with Kratos and everything that's gone wrong in his wretched life would be... well, a bit of an understatement. Over ten years before the beginning of the original God of War, Kratos was a regular soldier (or close enough to regular, anyway).

A general in the Spartan army, he had built a reputation for himself as a ruthless fighter and an incredible leader and tactician who had won many great victories. One fateful battle, however, proved to be more than he had bargained for.
