How I Spent Almost Half My Summer (Part 1)
One of the neighbor's cats (my sisters named her "MInnie") took a shine to my family and our house (probably our fault for being so nice to her whenever she came around). She started off just visiting briefly every so often, but quickly started to visit daily and stick around longer and longer once we took notice of her and started leaving out a bit of food and water (it was hot at the time, and we thought she might appreciate it). This went on for maybe two or three weeks, during which time my sisters (one of whom is studying to be a veterinarian) determined that she had given birth not long ago. Then, one morning, I woke up and heard what I thought was some kind of bird outside my window. I quickly realized "wait, that sounds almost like a...!", looked outside, and saw Minnie standing near our front steps, with a stubby set of legs beneath them! I can't remember the last time I got out of bed so fast! By the time I got outside, though, the kitten (whom you can see eating in the video) had crawled under the deck, so I had to squirm under myself to pull him out. Once we'd gotten him and Minnie settled (we'd also been putting out a box for Minnie to sleep in if she felt like it), I went to have some breakfast. While I was eating, Minnie left and returned with a second kitten, and then left again shortly afterward. This time my sisters and I followed her to try to figure out who she belonged to (we'd asked around before, but hadn't had any luck), and ran into her coming back with two MORE kittens in tow!
