Lewis Hamilton took the pole by the margin of 1.2 sec - which, amazingly, is also the difference he enjoyed over Max Verstappen in the wet qualifying for Monza, 2017. Other strong performances came from McLaren's Carlos Sainz, Renault's Esteban Ocon and Alpha Tauri's Pierre Gasly. For Ferrari and Racing Point, however, it was a day of disappointment.
