A significant addition to the dynamic elements of the world in Flight Simulator 2024 is the inclusion of real-time shipping traffic. This feature adds a new layer of realism to the oceans and waterways in the simulation.
To implement this feature, the MSFS team partnered with SPIRE, a data analytics company specializing in maritime, aviation, and weather tracking, and developer Henrik Nielsen, whose Global AI Ship Traffic mod for MSFS 2020 is basically being natively integrated into MSFS 2024.
The latest update, Global AI Ship Traffic (GAIST) Ultra V5, takes this impressive mod even further by adding new ships and routes while implementing performance optimizations to manage the expanded content.
