How MLB is using Google Cloud's Anthos to enhance the customer experience
For many organizations, data is harnessed for better real-time decisions, which translates into smarter outcomes. But for MLB, their data cloud has been about bringing fans a richer appreciation for the game itself. MLB is reimagining the fan experience with their data cloud. To build engagement with today’s fans, drive engagement with future generations, and lay the groundwork for future innovation, MLB consolidated its infrastructure and migrated to Google Cloud’s Anthos, Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and Looker. MLB tracks every moment of every game for an audience on seven continents with Cloud SQL, allowing them to use this valuable data to drive deeper engagement with fans today and in the future. With Looker, the MLB team has sped up reporting by 2-3 times to enable faster-decision making, build a portal with custom data experiences for each of the 30 Clubs, and demonstrate social media return on investment (ROI) to optimize sponsorship performance. Data is empowering MLB to make better use of their data to drive innovation in their fan facing products (i.e. Film Room, Statcast, Field Vision).
