How Strong Are Protoforms in the Transformers Movies? In the Michael Bay Transformers films the Autobots didn't land on Earth in a space ship like they did in the G1 series. Instead they traveled to the planet in their infiltration pods. Which wasn't a simple task. Because in order to fit into their pods they have to shed their old Cybertronian parts. Which for the longest time seemed like this would leave them in a vulnerable state. But on the contrary they were still extremely strong. As a matter of fact its said that the Protoforms are made of an ultra-dense, liquid metal material and are extremely hard to damage. Its not until they use that metalic substance to generate newer earth based vehicle parts that it loses its density. Which is why we saw most of the Decepticons opting not to scan any vehicles upon arriving in Egypt. These guys were so tough that they managed to take out 2 of the Arcee triplets. If the Autobots completely ditched the idea of being in disguise they'd be just as tough if not tougher.
