While intuition is difficult to pin down, there are researchers that believe that intuition is your brain subconsciously gathering enormous amounts of data and storing it without us being aware of it doing so. It's called thin-slicing. When we get that "gut feeling," it's actually our subconscious mind weighing in on the situation with information it's gathered without our conscious knowledge. But it can be fallible. You must train your conscious mind well so that your subconscious mind can operate more accurately.
