Roku is great for cord cutters, giving users easy access to HBO Go, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, YouTube TV, and much more. For anyone who's looking for more than what Roku has to offer in its core channel catalog, you can also add private channels created by other users. It should be noted that Roku is not responsible for the content on these channels, and you add them at your own risk. These channels can be added through codes given to you by the user who created the private channel. As you search for these codes across the internet, be sure to find a code that will work in your Roku region.
Now, after you find the code for the private channel you want to add, let's walk through the steps to add a private channel to your Roku account.
Step 1. Open a web browser, navigate to Roku.com, and then click "Sign In" in the upper right corner of the screen. The Roku account sign in screen appears.
Step 2. Enter the email and password associated with your Roku account, and then click "Sign In." You'll be signed in and routed back to the Roku home screen.
Step 3. Click the "Profile" icon in the upper right corner of the screen to open a drop-down menu, and then click "My Account" in the drop-down menu. The My Account screen appears.
Step 4. Click "Add Channel with a Code" in the Manage Account section. The Add Channel screen appears.
Step 5. Enter the channel access code associated with the private channel you want to add in the Channel Access Code field, and then click "Add Channel." A warning message appears informing you that this is not a certified Roku channel. Click "OK" on the warning screen if you still want to proceed. A screen appears with information about the channel you're adding and asks if you're sure you want to add this channel.
Step 6. Click "Yes, Add Channel" if you're sure you want to add this channel. If the channel is available in your region, you'll see a Channel Added screen. If this channel isn't available in your region, you'll see a message informing you that the channel code you provided isn't available in your region and that you'll need to try entering another code. After 24 hours, your new channel should appear on your Roku home page. If you're still not seeing it, or if you want to try and force it right after adding it, you can choose "System" in the home screen menu, and then "System Update."
