This video shows you how to back up / copy / restore an IOS image of a Cisco Router to GNU3 on the TFTP Server.

Step 1: First, connect your Cisco Router and VMware virtual machine to a Switch on GNS3.

Step 2: Install the SolarWinds TFTP Server program on the virtual machine and start the service.

Step 3: Assign the IP address to the Router's interface connected to the Switch and open the port.

Step 4: Use the show flash command at the command prompt to check the IOS image on the router. If there is no IOS image on the router, restore the image from the TFTP server using the copy tftp flash command.

Step 5: Now verify that the IOS image is on the router again by using the show flash: command.

Step 6: Now run the copy flash tftp command from the Router's command prompt to copy the system image to the TFTP server.

Step 7: In Source Filename, type the name of the IOS image and press Enter.

Step 8: Enter the IP address of the TFTP server in the Address or name of remove host and press Enter again.

Step 9: In Destination Filename, you will see the name of the Cisco IOS image. Here, just press Enter to start backing up the IOS.

Step 10: After backing up the IOS, open the root folder of TFTP, and check for any files.
