How to Enable DHCP on Windows 10 or Modem/Router | SYSNETTECH Solutions

To enable #DHCP:
Step 1: Right-click on Wi-Fi / Ethernet on the right-hand side of the taskbar and click Network and Internet Settings.
Step 2: Click on the adapter you are connected to the network from the Network Connections window.
Step 3: When the Wi-Fi Status window opens, click Features.
Step 4: The Wi-Fi Properties window will open. In the Wi-Fi Window, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Features.
Step 5: In the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window, select Obtain an IP Address Automatically and click OK.
Step 6: If your computer does not automatically receive an IP address, there may be an error in the DHCP server on the Modem/Router.
Step 7: To enable DHCP on the modem, open the Internet Browser (Chrome) and type the default gateway IP address in the address line, then press Enter.
Step 8: If you have a modem interface, type in the modem user and password. If you do not know the username and password of your ADSL modem, check the documentation in its box.
Step 9: After typing your username and password in the modem interface, log in. Find the DHCP option from the options opened and activate it.
Step 10: Disable and re-enable the network card for your computer or laptop. You should now get an IP address automatically. Or apply the following commands in cmd:

➦ ipconfig /renew

What is DHCP?
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a client/server protocol that automatically provides an Internet Protocol (IP) host with its IP address and other related configuration information such as the subnet mask and default gateway. RFCs 2131 and 2132 define DHCP as an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard based on Bootstrap Protocol (BOOTP), a protocol with which DHCP shares many implementation details. DHCP allows hosts to obtain necessary TCP/IP configuration information from a DHCP server.
