The final level (8-4), while definitely one of the hardest in the game, is made significantly easier if you don't die and lose your weapon. When it does, it can feel almost impossible. However, it's not and it can be done. I stopped in the middle of a play through to record this tutorial to help me remember in the future how I do it. Thought I'd share and hopefully you find it helpful as well.
