Effective Garb: L'automne / Quiet Guardian / Sand Fox / Dust and Shadow / Passion Rouge
Effective Attacks: Aero / Aerora / Galestrike / Heavy Slash
Ride the wind to victory against Grendel. Everything you do should be aimed at getting this meanie caught up in one gust after another. Equip a wind attack like Aero or Aerora to every schema, and assign Deshell and Deprotect somewhere as well. Persistence is key: don't let your guard down after the first stagger but keep blowing wind on poor Grendel. Once he's down a second time, debuff him and slash away.
Poison resistance is helpful, so if you have the Star Bracelet, this would be the time to put it on. Heavy Guard is also helpful when Grendel gets an attitude after his first stagger. Hellkraft is not a pleasant thing to face; don't try so hard to wait for a last minute guard against that particular attack, since it's easy to miss the cues. Just block as soon as you get the first signal. If you reach this battle on the final day, Grendel is called Parandus, but the same ideas apply--but you might need a few recovery items to help you out.
