53This video will teach you how to block or ban words with Nightbot. Nightbot is a powerful tool that adds interactive commands and functionality to a stream chat. An extra feature is Nightbot’s moderation services. With this moderation enabled you can ban links and block words.
Moderating your Twitch chat is important and required. It also helps keep the chat as friendly and welcoming to new viewers as possible. Nightbot allows you to create a list of words, or phrases that are banned.
Whenever a message includes one of these words, Nightbot will remove the message. The user will also be timed out for a set amount of time. Regardless of the set duration, Nightbout will always timeout a user for 5 seconds first. Nightbot will then update the timeout duration for the user.
Nightbot will automatically display a message to notify users why their message was deleted. This aids in transparency, and can prevent users from using banned words in the future. If you would prefer no message shown, then you can enable silent mode.
