How to boost start and drift boost in Mario Kart DS
337To boost start in Mario Kart DS, press the 'A' button just as the 2 is about to fade.
The timing takes some practice - in my experience, it's best to time the button press earlier than later, meaning you'll get some boost at the start rather than none at all.
Elsewhere, to get a drift boost on corners, drift then alternate left and right until the sparks go from blue to red. You can do this on straights and wide corners over and over to 'snake', with some practice.
Finally, if you fall off course, press and hold the 'A' button as soon as you land to get a starting boost, getting you back into the race as quick as possible.
