To boost start in Mario Kart Super Circuit, press the 'A' button between the second yellow light and the blue light at the start of the race.

The timing takes some practice - but once you get it, it becomes an invaluable technique.

Elsewhere, to get a mini-turbo drift boost on corners, sharply drift (hold R going round a corner) for at least a second or two then straighten up again.

If performed correctly, you should see a boost. If in doubt, drift longer than not, and not unlike many other Mario Kart games, it's harder to find opportunities to boost in Super Circuit.

Also, the video shows me jumping after a drift; this is not required, but helped me 'straighten up' following some turns, so try that if you're struggling to get it right.
