How to Break Out of Hunter Traps in WoW Arena
269How to use a macro to break yourself out of Hunter Traps in WoW PvP and Arena! Sitting full Hunter Traps in Arena can be devastating, especially as the healer. Talented Resto Druids, Mistweaver Monks and Holy Paladins can use this trick to get themselves out of Survival Hunter traps in PvP! This neat trick uses a macro to Taunt the hunter's pet, which will come over and break you out of the trap.
The Macro For Druids (takes two globals, press twice): #showtooltip Growl
/cast Bear Form
/cast [@arenapet1] Growl
The macro for Other Classes (replace Provoke with your Taunt name: #showtooltip
/cast [arenapet1] Provoke
You don't have to be a healer to use this! Any spec that has a Taunt (All specs of Warrior, Demon Hunter, Monk, Death Knight, Paladin and Druid) can make use of this. This is a great idea to try out in 2v2 arena, 3v3 arena, battlegrounds and even World PvP. It's mostly useful against hunters but you might be able to use a Mage's Water Elemental to break Polymorph in the same way, or even a rogue's teammate's pet to break Blind. Get creative! This macro is fully abiding by Terms of Service and uses in-game mechanics to outplay CC. It is in no way cheating, botting, scripting or hacking.
Note that if the Hunter has the talent that causes his trap to not break to damage (I wanna say it's Waylay) this obviously won't work. The pet has to travel to you, so positioning yourself closer to the pet or taunting it ahead of time might be smart. Of course, you don't want to tip off the hunter too early that you're taunting his pet else he might keep a tighter leash on it!
There might be a way to re-write the macro so you don't have to edit it in the starting room based on Arena 123. However, on teams with more than one pet that might result in taunting a suboptimal target. You can always make three versions of the macro (one with each arena target) and keybind them all (perhaps with a modifier) so you can taunt the pet of choice.
