Here's a quick video guide thing on how to get a Hired Hand from 1-4 all the way to the Ice Caves for the final shortcut. There is one more step after this, but I actually struggled far more with the Hired Hand. Well, that is, I struggled more with this until I figured out that you can make them fall asleep which is basically the only big thing I teach via this guide. Just place them down on the ground, and then they'll fall asleep after running back and forth for a few seconds. Then you can leave and then they should stay put for the entire level.
