Steps:
- The first thing you need to do to be able to change your primary console is to fully close any games that are currently running in the background. It won't let you change your primary console if you have a game open.
- To fully close a game highlight it on the home screen and then tap the 'x' button.
- Tap 'a' to select close.
- Once that's done, open up the nintendo eshop and select your Nintendo account.
- Tap on your user icon in the top right corner of the eshop.
- Click your account name and then scroll down the right sidebar menu to 'primary console' and select 'deregister'.
- Tap 'deregister' again on the popup.
- You will have to enter your password to continue.
- Tap 'ok'.
- That console is no longer your primary console, now all you have to do to make a new console your primary is log into the eshop on that console.
