How to command marines in NS2 when they doubt your ability on the 50 man Wooza's server
It's very common in NS2 for players to blame the commander for losing the game, even if the players suck and the commander is really good. This happened in the previous game so they kicked me out of the chair while we still had a chance to win and then this round I had to argue that I knew what I was doing when they started complaining that I was a troll com, and then we ended up winning the game.
This game is heavily based on teamwork and morale. Part of being a commander is keeping good morale and ensuring that your team operates in the most effective way. Social argument type situations are never fun to be in but they must be mastered to a certain degree in order to effectively lead a troop of men and keep them as an effective fighting force.
I know commanding isn't the most exiting thing to watch, but you can at least learn how I place phase gates, my upgrade orders, how I selectively med and resupply men only when they need it the most to conserve resources, how to move phase gates forward and recycle old ones, etc.
I was trying to join the alien team I had some super fun alien rounds yesterday that I wish I had recorded. But I kept getting shuffled to Marines so I just did some commanding becasue that's more fun than being a marine a lot of the time for me unless I have a lot of energy because to be a good marine just like any shooter your eyes need to be peeled at all times and you must be methodical and slow and never let your gaurd down which is very tiring if you just got done with final exams and got back from the gym and are pretty worn out. Commanding is definitely less demanding.
I wish I could record at 120 fps for you guys because the gameplay looks choppy and bad, but I don't even think youtube supports 120fps yet.
