Amazon Echo speakers are great for more than interacting with Alexa and playing music from your Amazon Music collection. You can connect your iPhone, iPad or Android device to your smart speaker using Bluetooth to play audio from your mobile device through the speaker.
Let's start with how to pair an Echo speaker with an iPhone or iPad.
Step 1. Launch the Amazon Alexa app on your iPhone or iPad device, and then tap "Devices" in the menu on the screen. The Devices screen is displayed.
Step 2. Tap "Echo and Alexa" along the top of the screen. You'll see a list of your Echo and Alexa devices.
Step 3. Tap the name of the device you want to pair with your iPhone or iPad. The information screen for that device is shown.
Step 4. Tap "Bluetooth Devices" in the Wireless section. The Bluetooth Settings screen is displayed.
Step 5. Tap "Pair a New Device." A screen prompting you to pair your Bluetooth device with your Echo device is displayed.
Step 6. Tap to launch the Settings app, and then tap "Bluetooth" in that menu. The Bluetooth screen is shown.
Step 7. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on, and then scroll down to the bottom of the screen, where you'll see a list of devices available to pair with. Locate your Echo device, and then tap it to connect it to your iPhone or iPad, where it will show up in your list of connected devices. You'll now be able to play audio from your iPhone or iPad through your Amazon Echo device.
Next let's look at how to pair an Echo speaker with your Android device.
Step 1. Launch the Amazon Alexa app on your Android device, and then tap "Devices" in the menu on the screen. The Devices screen is displayed.
Step 2. Tap "Echo and Alexa" along the top of the screen. You'll see a list of your Echo and Alexa devices.
Step 3. Tap the name of the device you want to pair with your Android device. The information screen for that device is shown.
Step 4. Tap "Bluetooth Devices" in the Wireless section. The Bluetooth Settings screen is displayed.
Step 5. Tap "Pair a New Device." A screen prompting you to pair your Bluetooth device with your Echo device is shown.
Step 6. Swipe up on your Android device's home screen to display the Apps screen, and then tap "Settings." The Settings screen is displayed.
Step 7. Tap "Connections" to view the Connections screen. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and then tap "Bluetooth." The Bluetooth screen is displayed.
Step 8. Locate the name of your Echo device in the Available Devices section, and then tap it. A Bluetooth Pairing Request window is shown. Tap "Ok" in this window. Your Echo device is now paired with your Android device and will show up in your list of paired devices, which means you can stream music and other audio from your Android device to your Echo speaker via Bluetooth.
