At the time of recording this video, the white-listing feature on GPortal Rust Console Community Servers for PlayStation & Xbox is not working consistently, so a simple password could be the best way to secure access to your Server for now.
When the White List command is fully functional, then it is a great solution to restrict people coming onto your server because it looks at their gamertag or username, and cannot be leaked, passed around and shared like a password.
The whitelist issues do seem to revolve around the uses of inverted commas or quotation marks ( "username" ) around gamertags, especially if those user names have spaces or special characters.
