Ravensword: Shadowlands is a RPG in the purest style of The Elder Scrolls, in which the players can explore a vast, wonderful fantasy world. Although the point of view can be changed to first person in a few situations (for using long-range weapons), the game is generally played in third person.
The game takes place in a vast open world that resembles that of The Elder Scrolls franchise. The players are free to explore as they like, battling a multitude of different enemies, carrying out dozens of different secondary missions, talking with many distinct characters and collecting hundreds of objects to better equip their heroes.
You have several options to move through this vast world. The regular way is, of course, by walking. But it is not the only way. You can also travel by horse or other types of mounts - even flying ones - from which you can fight using the appropriate weapons.
Additional abilities that you will find within the game include a system for picking locks, pick-pocketing other characters, and even entering and escaping from prison when you are caught doing any of these things.
The game's combat system, although not completely polished, is good enough to guarantee hours of fun. When you use weapons meant for hand-to-hand combat, such as swords, hammers or axes, the game remains in third person. But the game switches to first person when you use arrows or crossbows.
