Your Google account is your gateway to the universe of Google services, such as Gmail, Chrome, Android, YouTube, AdSense, and much more. However, if you have an account you no longer use, you may not want all of the information associated with that account to hang around. Thankfully, Google makes it easy to delete a Google account you're no longer using. To be clear, deleting your Google account will erase all of the data associated with that account, with no way to recover that information.

Now let's walk through the steps to delete your Google account.

Step 1. Open a web browser and navigate to www.MyAccount.Google.com. Log into the Google account you want to delete if prompted. You'll land on your Google Account screen.

Step 2. Click "Data and Privacy" in the menu on the left side of the screen. Data and Privacy options will be shown.

Step 3. Scroll down to the More Options section, and then click "Delete Your Google Account" in this section. You'll be prompted to enter the password for your Google account. Enter the password for this Google account, and then click "Next." A Delete Your Google Account screen is displayed, letting you know that you'll no longer to be able to access Google services through this account, and all of the data associated with this account will be deleted and lost. You'll also be presented with a link where you can download your Google account data before you delete your account.

Step 4. Review the information on this screen carefully, review and respond to any required acknowledgements, and then click "Delete Account." A screen is displayed letting you know that your Google account and all of its associated data have been deleted. You'll also be notified that if you accidentally deleted your Google account that you have a very short window of time where you can potentially recover it, and a link you can use to try and have your account recovered.
