Tap to click is enabled by default on most newer Windows laptops, and lets you tap the trackpad to perform a single-click, double-click or other actions, rather than fully pressing the buttons on the touchpad. Thankfully, if tap to click is causing more trouble than it's worth, the feature can easily be disabled on your Windows 11 computer.
Now let's walk through the steps to turn off tap to click on Windows 11.
Step 1. Navigate to your Windows 11 home screen, and then press the "Windows" and "I" keys at the same time. The Windows Settings screen will be displayed.
Step 2. Click "Bluetooth and Devices" in the menu on the left side of the screen. Bluetooth and Devices options are shown on the right side of the screen.
Step 3. Click "Touchpad" in the list of options. The Touchpad screen is displayed.
Step 4. Scroll down to the Gestures and Interaction section, and then click "Taps" in this section. The Taps field will expand into a menu.
Step 5. Tap to remove the check mark that's next to the "Tap with a single finger to single-click" option. Continue removing the check mark that's next to any other options in this list that you want to turn off the tap to click feature for. Going forward, tap to click will be turned off on your Windows 11 computer for any options you de-deselected.
