How to Disable SuperFetch/SysMain In Windows 11 [Tutorial]

We can't continue without addressing the elephant in the room - should you disable prefetch? The short answer is almost always no, and it's been heavily debated, for no good reason, ever since the service appeared in Windows Vista. Everyone wants a faster computer, and SysMain is one of the Windows components that can speed up boot time and load programs faster. As more people migrate to SSD hard drives and more memory, disabling SysMain makes less sense than ever before.

Ultimately, the purpose of every generation of SuperFetch has been the same: to increase the performance of Windows by preloading apps you frequently use into RAM before you need to use them. But what is SuperFetch?

Starting in Windows Vista, the OS includes a special technology called "SuperFetch". It was designed to speed up performance on hard disk drives by arranging frequently used app data and components into a contiguous area on the disk which was then preloaded into memory to speed up the loading time of the app. Sometimes it may cause high disk usage so you may want to disable it temporarily or permanently. Here is how it can be done.

Enable or disable the Windows 11, 8, or 7 SuperFetch (otherwise known as Prefetch) feature. SuperFetch caches data so that it can be immediately available to your application. Sometimes this can affect the performance of certain applications. It tends to not work well with gaming, but can improve performance with business apps.

This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 11 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, and Samsung.
