Doing research markings in V4 gives your character permanent stat increases and therefore easy CP. If you're struggling leveling then you need to go turn in research markings so you can increase your stats and level up more easily.
When you reach level 5 for a research then all the markings can instead be spent to get hunt tokens. These hunt tokens can be used to purchase marking chests for different regions which give a few random research points for a random creature of the region.
Don't forget to go back to towns in reach region, find the markings merchant, and turn in your research tokens. Getting the free stats is critical to leveling up fast in the new V4 MMORPG.
