How To Enable and Talk To Siri On MacBook [Tutorial]
Issues addressed in this tutorial:
Speak to Siri. Press and hold the Dictation/Siri (F5) key the Microphone key or press and hold Command-Space bar (or say “Hey Siri” if you have that feature turned on), and start speaking. You can add the Siri icon to the menu bar by selecting that option in the Siri pane of System Preferences. Then click the Siri icon to use Siri.
Siri on the Mac goes even deeper into your software than it does on iPhone and iPad. It can search for files, check your system settings, and understands contextual language, so you can ask one question and follow it up with a related one right after.
Hey Siri. On your MacBook Air, you can simply say “Hey Siri” to get responses to your requests. To enable this feature in the Siri pane of System Preferences, click “Listen for ‘Hey Siri’,” then speak several Siri commands when prompted.
For convenience, “Hey Siri” doesn’t respond when the lid to your MacBook Air is closed. If the lid is closed and connected to an external display, you can still invoke Siri from the icon in the menu bar.
This tutorial will apply for MacBook Pro, Air, Mini's running the macOS operating system. This tutorial was performed on a macOS Big Sur system.
