UPDATE February 2016: In Steam, selecting STEAM - SETTINGS - DOWNLOADS and changing the DOWNLOAD REGION to a European city will then connect you to servers based out of said city, which is easier than the method shown in this video (albeit less efficient at finding large servers since selection of a city is so narrow)
This video will show you how to find the most opponents to race against online in Grid 2 PC. Grid 2 PC is one of the richest, most rewarding, best multiplayer racing experiences on PC, however the matchmaking system makes it difficult to find opponents. The game is much more popular in Europe, and since the matchmaking system matches players based on region, if you are not in Europe already, if you know the Steam username of any European who plays this game, you can connect to their game through Steam instead of through the in-game matchmaking system (this video will show you how). Also, the host and creator of a Grid 2 multiplayer server should ONLY 'allow downloadable content' if they own the BASE version of Grid 2 with NO DLC addon content (so no addon cars and no addon tracks): the reason for this is because Grid 2 only allows clients to join hosts' servers if the client has the SAME DLC addon content as the host, and given the sheer number of different combinations of DLC content out there, it would be best to not allow downloadable content if the host has any sort of DLC associated with their game (including hosts with the Reloaded Edition or with the All In DLC Pack). Finally, this video will show you how to join me in playing on MY Europe-based Grid 2 server that is up most weekends.
Here are the accessible DLC addon cars when playing on a Grid 2 server created from a BASE GAME with ALLOW DLC CONTENT set to ON:
