How to Fix Crashing & Freezing in COD Black Ops 6 & Warzone (PS5 Tutorial)
If you're experiencing crashing or freezing issues in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 or Warzone on your PS5, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to help resolve the problem:
1. Check for Game and System Updates
Ensure both Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (or Warzone) and your PS5 system software are fully updated.
For the game: Go to the game on your PS5 home screen, press the options button on your controller, and select Check for Updates.
For the system: Go to Settings - System - System Software - System Software Update and Settings - Update System Software.
2. Clear Cache on PS5
Clearing the cache on your PS5 can help resolve performance issues.
Turn off your PS5 completely (not Rest Mode).
Press and hold the power button until you hear a second beep (about 7 seconds) to enter Safe Mode.
Connect a controller with a USB cable and press the PS button.
In the Safe Mode menu, select Clear Cache and Rebuild Database and choose Clear System Software Cache.
3. Rebuild Database
This helps fix corrupted game files or system data.
Follow the steps above to get into Safe Mode.
Select Rebuild Database. This will scan and fix any corrupted files on your PS5.
4. Check Storage Space
Ensure you have enough free space on your PS5. If your console is running low on storage, it could cause performance issues.
Go to Settings - Storage to check available space and delete unnecessary files or games to free up space.
5. Disable Background Applications
Running too many apps in the background can cause performance issues.
Close any unused apps or games by selecting them and pressing the Options button, then choosing Close Application.
6. Adjust Game Settings
Lower the in-game graphics settings to improve performance, especially if you’re noticing freezing in multiplayer modes.
This can reduce the strain on your PS5 hardware.
7. Check for Overheating
Ensure your PS5 is in a well-ventilated area and not overheating. If the console gets too hot, it can cause crashes and freezes.
You can use an external fan to help with cooling if needed.
8. Reinstall the Game
If none of the above works, try reinstalling the game to fix corrupted game files.
Go to Settings - Storage - Games and Apps, find Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 or Warzone, and select Delete.
After deletion, reinstall the game from your library or disc.
9. Check Network Connection
A weak or unstable internet connection can lead to freezing during online play. Ensure you have a stable connection.
Go to Settings -Network - Test Internet Connection to check for any issues.
10. Contact Activision Support
If none of the solutions work, contact Activision Support for assistance. There may be server-side issues or specific fixes for your issue.
