How to Format any Drive to FAT32 Windows 10 or 11 (Disk Management)(To Large)
Formatting a drive to FAT32 when it's larger than the standard 32GB limit set by Windows 10 or 11's built-in tools requires using either command line utilities or third-party software. Here's how you can do it:
Step-by-Step Guide:
Backup Data:
Ensure you backup all data on the drive since formatting will erase everything.
Open Disk Management:
Right-click on the Start button and select Disk Management.
Delete Existing Partitions:
Right-click on each partition on the drive you wish to format and choose Delete Volume.
This will turn the drive space into Unallocated space.
Create a New Partition (up to 32GB):
Right-click on the unallocated space and select New Simple Volume.
Follow the wizard to create a new volume, but limit its size to 32GB or less since Disk Management only allows FAT32 for drives up to this size:
Specify volume size: Set it to 32GB or less (32,768 MB).
Assign Drive Letter or Path: Assign a letter.
Format Partition: Choose FAT32 as the file system.
