Scott was born in Ontario, Canada, in 1963. His childhood was extraordinarily difficult and he was an alcoholic by age 16. For many years, Scott’s world consisted of drinking, drugs, surviving on the street, violence, and crime. In 1986, in a desperate attempt to escape his life, he moved to Florida, got married, and quit drinking. His first exposure to the concept of spiritual growth was in AA, but after five years, he knew that he wanted to expand beyond what AA had to offer. In 1991, he met Art Sellers and took his first workshop, “Creative Insight Arts”; from that time on, everything in Scott’s life changed. He had found his life’s mission: to use the wisdom gained from his personal challenges to help others break free from their past and enrich their own journeys. For ten years, he assisted and was a co-leader for Art’s workshops. He expanded his service by taking the workshop experience into prisons, and was involved in the Life Management Skills program for first-time offenders. Beginning in 1995, Scott also facilitated at ten men’s gatherings in Florida and three in Alabama. Although Scott’s passion has been using his insight and wisdom to lead others, he has not neglected to continue his own spiritual development. He learned much about mental illness and the depth and power of the fragile human condition from his wife, Kathryn, who passed in 2009. His two daughters taught him the meaning of unconditional love. He has studied and worked with many local, national, and international spiritual teachers and leaders. Scott has become a hypnotherapist, a reflexologist, practices Native American teachings and rituals, and continues his work as a recovering alcoholic.
