You shouldn't ignore the wilderness as it gives you a good amount of dust, sharpodonty, and currency for pulls. It allows you to craft materials, and some materials are better to craft for them than to farm them directly. It can seem confusing and convoluted at first, but the more I got used to it, the easier it was to understand.
