In Monstro Town there is a key laying on top of a high ledge. Below it is a door which houses a thwomp. Keep speaking to it until it says "Don't you dig these vibes?" At that point speak to it about... 5 more times which will be enough to knock the key down. To get to the Treasure room, get the message that says "Sorry, I'm not supposed to have visitors at bedtime." and that'll send you to the room blocked by the golden Belome statue. Hand the key over to it and it'll vanish.
