In order to stream to Twitch from other devices, such as Xbox, PlayStation, Facebook, Discord, OBS and more, you'll likely need to find your Twitch stream key. Your Twitch stream key is a long string of alphanumeric characters that tells those other devices which specific Twitch account to stream to. Getting your Twitch stream key can be done with a few quick clicks, but you should be very careful not to give that number to other people, as that's all someone needs to start streaming without your permission to your Twitch account.
Now let's walk through the steps to get your Twitch stream key.
Step 1. Open a web browser and navigate to www.twitch.tv. Log into your account if you're not logged in by default. You'll land on your Twitch home screen.
Step 2. Click your profile icon at the top of the screen to open a drop-down menu, and then click "Creator Dashboard." Your Creator Dashboard screen will be displayed.
Step 3. Click "Settings" in the menu on the left to expand that option, and then click "Stream" in that menu. Your stream settings options will be shown on the right side of the screen.
Step 4. Find the Stream Key and Preferences section at the top of this screen, and then find the Primary Stream Key field in that section.
Step 5. Click "Copy" to copy your Twitch stream key so you can easily paste it somewhere else. Or, you can click "Reset" to change your Twitch stream key in the event someone else may have hijacked it and be using it to stream videos to your Twitch account without your permission. Alternatively, if you want to actually see your Twitch stream key you can click "Show." A message is displayed letting you know that you should never share your Twitch stream key with anyone. Click "I Understand" to move forward with displaying your Twitch stream key. Your Twitch stream key will be displayed in the Primary Stream Key field.
Step 5. Choose where you want to download your saved Twitch stream to, and then click "Save." Your past Twitch broadcast will be downloaded to your computer as an MP4 video.
