XMP profiles are stored in the SPD (Serial Presence Detect) EEPROM chip on the memory module itself. The SPD chip contains information about the memory module, such as manufacturer details, timings, frequencies, and voltage requirements. XMP profiles are part of this information.
When you enable XMP or A-XMP in the BIOS/UEFI settings, the motherboard reads the information stored in the SPD chip of the memory module and applies the settings specified in the XMP profile.
